Overview
Pipe jacking is a means by which you can install pipelines, ducts and culverts underground. The technique involves well-designed pipes being pushed into the earth from behind a shield by powerful hydraulic jacks. Excavation occurs within the shield as the pipe is being pushed through the ground.
This technique has many benefits, including:
- Minimal surface disruption
- Zero disruption to pedestrians or traffic and
- Fewer joints required than a segmental tunnel.
Nor is a secondary lining required as a result of pipe jacking, while it also ensures a smooth internal finish with an excellent flow of characteristics.
