Underpinning

Underpinning is the process by which the foundations of an existing building or other structure are strengthened and stabilised.

It may be carried out due to the original foundation not being sufficiently strong and stable, or there may have been a change in the structure’s usage. Alternatively, you may wish to construct an extra room, with the only solution being to build a ground floor.
